For the people, not the billionaires

Meet Alexis Goldstein

Alexis' workstation on wall street.

I know how to fix our rigged system because I’ve worked in its centers of power.

From Washington to Wall Street, the wealthy continue to get ahead while you and your family can barely get by. I worked on Wall Street and watched the banks get bailed out while the people got sold out. I worked in the government fighting corruption in Big Tech and cryptocurrency until Donald Trump fired me for standing up to DOGE.

Seeing our institutions fail ordinary people over and over again is exactly why I’m running for Congress. I’ve seen how power moves through money. How the institutions that are supposed to protect us get captured by the interests they’re meant to regulate. How the gap between what our government could do and what it actually does for working families keeps getting wider.

I know how these systems work. I know who benefits the most from keeping them broken. And I know what it takes to change them.

My Experience

After seven years working in finance, I’d seen enough to know that the financial crisis wasn’t really about a system that was broken, but a system that was working exactly as designed to make the wealthy even wealthier and leave everyone else behind. I quit and joined Occupy Wall Street. (You can read more about my journey from Wall Street to Occupy Wall Street here.) I spent the next decade advocating for tougher laws on financial firms and Big Tech. I was a leader in the coalition to demand more from policymakers on federal student debt, whose staggering amounts prevent so many of us from owning a home, having kids, or starting a business. I pushed policymakers to use the power they had to protect people.

In 2022, I was honored to join the very regulator created to address the failings of the financial crisis and ensure that American consumers are no longer an afterthought: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

I swore an oath on my first day to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.  I take that oath of office seriously.

A representative who isn’t bought by AIPAC, Wall Street, Big Tech, or cryptocurrency

At the CFPB, I worked with other technology experts to fight corruption and fraud in big tech and the cryptocurrency industry. I was a proud Union member (CFPB Union NTEU 335), and I co-sponsored and passed a union resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza – we were one of only two federal worker unions to do so.

Then Donald Trump fired me for standing up to Elon Musk’s cronies. When DOGE showed up in a CFPB conference room right after they had dismantled USAID, I did what I was trained by the CFPB to do: protect the sensitive data of millions of Americans. They retaliated against me, but I’m still fighting with my former colleagues to save the CFPB.

I'm not running as a vanity project.
I'm running because I’m pissed off.

I have spent my entire career becoming an expert in how this system works – the levers of power that can be pulled, the minutiae and intricacies of policymaking – and I’m ready to make it work for us, not the billionaires.

I am running because no matter the crisis, the cowardice of our leaders has meant that working people always pay the price. I believe our district deserves a representative that will show at least the same amount of bravery as ordinary people.

Maryland's 6th needs someone in Congress who will walk into a fight, know the rules better than the other side, and win. That's me.
